In today’s entertainment world there is a huge variety of content to choose from. Many people are drawn towards podcasting because it gives the listener the freedom to pick their content. Whereas, on the radio and TV you must tune in at a certain time if you want to catch the program you desire. Podcasting can be compared to TIVO, the television technology introduced in 1999. TIVO allows you to record programs while you are away and watch them whenever you would like. The convenience of new programs that load straight onto their iPods, so the podcasts can be listened to throughout the day is a major part of what attracts followers.

From talks about global warming to human trafficking, TED has become a platform globally to share world-altering ideas. Technology, Entertainment, and Design started as a conference 25 years ago and has transformed into a nonprofit organization committed to spreading ideas.

podcast

My favorite TED Radio Hour podcast is called “Why We Lie“. This episode talks about why we cheat, lie, deceive, and why we believe so much of what we are told.

The podcast reveals that in an office setting or a school setting, instead of a little group of people that cheat a lot, they found that it was a bigger group of people that cheated a little bit. The example the speaker gave for lying was a baby. We learn to lie when we are a toddler, babies will cry, stop, and wait to see if anyone is coming. The podcast then discusses deception, and how before writing we told stories in a way that we knew would never be specifically remembered. Now with the new technological advances where our every word is written and recorded, deception is having to adapt. At the end, Raz get into the topic of why we self-decieve. We trick ourselves into believing everything so that way we can prepare for anything that we need to survive.
